OCTOBER GAME RELEASE RADAR

Hi folks! In an effort to engage with the community more than just the livestream, I will be posting weekly updates on the blog for upcoming games or recent gaming news. This post will cover the games to keep an eye out for in October.

SILENT HILL 2: REMAKE

OCTOBER 8th

Silent Hill 2 is regarded as one of the greatest Horror games ever made. This week, Silent Hill 2 gets the remake/remaster treatment many beloved games from that era seem to be getting. The original game is touted for it’s atmosphere as well as the enemy design which introduced players to the now iconic Pyramid Head. The sound design in the original game is also very strong as it features many ambient sounds that will make you hesitate before venturing out into the foggy town of Silent Hill. You can play the game two days early if you pre-order. Having played Silent Hill 2, I can say that I am excited for the release and will be playing it over the weekend.

UNTIL DAWN (2024)

OCTOBER 4th

Continuing the Horror theme, Until Dawn releases this week. Until Dawn (2024) is a remaster of the original game from 2015. The original cast of Until Dawn features many familiar names who had their likeness captured, making the game seem like a scary movie you would watch in the theater. Without a doubt this is an attempt to bring the game up to modern standards, but since I have RENT DUE I will not be playing this remaster. Instead, I will be playing the original 2015 version. Guess I’m missing out on Remastered Hayden, Rami, and Peter.

DIABLO IV: Vessel of Hatred

OCTOBER 8th

Elon Musk’s favorite game, Diablo IV, gets it’s first expansion this week. Vessel of Hatred features another class as well as a new area for players to explore and level up. I can’t speak on too much about this game as I haven’t played Diablo IV, but I have played Diablo III extensively. The definitive top down dungeon crawling RPG is one of the most popular franchises in the world, and has more than 175,000 players concurrently as of the last hour within writing this post. Just this past month it was revealed that it has brought in more than 1 BILLION dollars to Blizzard. Diablo IV is a LOOT GOON for BLIZZARD.

CALL of DUTY: BLACK OPS 6

OCTOBER 25th

Ah yes, the annual release of Call of Duty has brought us the 6th (wow) installment of the Black Ops. Once upon a time, when I still had my youth, I would play the first two Black Ops with my friends on XBOX LIVE. Many core memories from my time playing with friends were built on Call of Duty, and Black Ops was no exception. Whereas those games featured a Cold War 1970s setting, Black Ops 6 takes place in the 1990s. Nowadays it seems like most of the public focuses on the Warzone aspect of Call of Duty, but to me the single player story mode still gets my attention the most. We probably won’t be seeing Captain Price, Ghost, Soap, or Farah in this one but who knows…Maybe Mason will get another chance at finding out what the numbers mean.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

BATMAN: ARKHAM SHADOW

SLAY the PRINCESS

LIFE IS STRANGE: DOUBLE EXPOSURE

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANTS UNLEASHED
